Using the wood as guidance we select choice cuts of the tree and sculpt and fold it into group seating. The continuous grain weaves over the edge into sculpted seats that flow over the top. Can be produced with a single live edge board or standard lumber.

Bringing together our Modern Heirloom and Root collections, this local river swept root, naturally weathered grey, is sliced in half and combined with salvaged chair spindles, mechanisms and seats. The time-honoured hand-turned spindles are reused and given another life as a novel bench.

The onedge rocker allows for relaxation and swaying movement for times of repose. The cantilevered design offers slight flex and movement for relaxing with a book or rocking a babe to sleep. It is available with or without arms.

Practical meets playful in this one-of-a-kind bench that incorporates reclaimed shoemakers lasts – wooden molds used in hand making shoes.

Vestiges of a bygone era, wooden lasts approximating the form of an individual human foot were created by skilled craftsmen known as cobblers, mold makers or cordwainers. Rescued from a Northern Ontario fishing camp where they were dumped with a sign reading “firewood for cottagers”, these lasts captivated us with their raw beauty. With respect for the craftsmanship with which they were created, we’ve experimented with a selection of lasts to create a limited series of objects since 2008, in our way, paying tribute to the extinct artistry of these craftspeople.
